Safer Foundation Privacy Policy

Safer Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to provide people with arrest and conviction records the opportunity for a second chance. We offer a variety of services to help those with a history in the criminal justice system become law-abiding members of their communities.
This privacy policy (“Policy”) applies to the visitors to and users of the Safer Foundation website, https://www.saferfoundation.org. Through the Safer Foundation’s website you can access the website Safer Return, https://www.saferreturn.org /, which is intended for the people to whom we provide services. This Policy does not apply to information we collect through the Safer Return or other websites, through email or phone communications, or offline. The information that we collect through the Safer Foundation website and how it is used is described in this Policy.
Information We Collect
We collect information from you when you provide it to us and/or when you visit, use or navigate our website. Visitors are free to navigate our website without providing us with any personal information; see Log Files and Cookies That Collect Information Autonomously for information that we collect without your affirmatively providing it to us. If you want to learn more about our services, seek to utilize our services, hire any of the people in our programs, volunteer to help us in our mission, donate to us, or communicate with us about employment opportunities with Safer Foundation, we will ask you for some or all of the personal information described below. We may also ask general questions about your specific inquiry or interest in Safer Foundation so that we can direct your inquiry to the appropriate person for response, or otherwise respond more fully to your request.
If you are interested in using Safer Foundation’s services (we call the people that use our services our “Clients”), we will ask you for your name, email address, physical address, phone number, date of birth, if you have used our services in the past, how you heard about us and which of our services you are interested in. The people we accept as Clients will be asked to provide additional information through the Safer Return website and/or after direct contact with one of our staff or volunteers.
If you are interested in employing any of our Clients (we call the employers that we work with our “Partners”), we will ask you for your name, company name, email address, physical address, phone number, and what your business does.
If you are interested in volunteering with Safer Foundation, we will ask you for your name, email address, what you are interested in doing as a volunteer.
Our website describes some of the criteria that applies to the people and companies that we are able to accept as Clients, volunteers, or Partners. After providing us with the information described in this Policy, we will contact you further to determine your eligibility; submitting information through our website does not mean that you have been accepted as a Client, volunteer or Partner.
If you are member of the media and would like more information about us or our programs, you can request it through our website by providing us with your name, email, a phone number and the city and state where you are located. We will also ask you about what type of information you would like to receive.
You can make a donation to Safer Foundation through our website by clicking on the tab that says “Donate.” You will be redirected to Safer Foundation’s subpage on the givelively.org website. Give Lively is the company that we have contracted with to process donations made via our website and they will ask for your credit card account number (including expiration date and CCV number) or your bank account information, and your name, address, and email. They make available to us your name, email, address and the date(s) and amount(s) of your contributions. We do not have access to your credit card or bank information. Please refer to the Give Lively privacy policy, Privacy Policy | Give Lively, for additional information on how they use the information they collect. If you would prefer to donate by sending a check directly to Safer Foundation, please refer to the information on our website for instructions.
We periodically sponsor fundraising events and in many cases you can register for these on our website. We will ask for your name, email and other information specific to the event or relevant to your attending the event. We may also ask for payment information if there a fee to attend (type of credit card, card number, expiration date, CVV and billing address)
You can also sign up for our newsletter by providing us with your email.
Safer Foundation posts employment opportunities on its website and individuals interested in working for us can apply by clicking the “Join Our Team” link on the website. We will use the information provided by job applicants to evaluate an applicant for employment, to communicate with the applicant concerning potential employment-related matters and generally in the course of the process undertaken by Safer Foundation to fill the position. We may also retain the information and refer to it when openings similar to the one a job seeker applied for opens up. We use ADP to collect and analyze information from job applicants and their privacy policy covers their policies related to personal information they collect, ADP Privacy Policy.
We contract with third parties to host and administer our website. The information described above that you provide is stored on servers owned or controlled by them and not Safer Foundation. Safer Foundation accesses and uses the information through its third party service providers. We do not give our service providers the right to use your information except to the extent necessary to host and administer our website, and in relation to givelively.org and ADP, as needed to allow visitors to our website to make donations or apply for positions with us, as detailed in this Policy. Subject to that, please refer to the third party service providers’ privacy policies listed above for more information.
Log Files and Cookies That Collect Information Autonomously
“Cookies” refer to software code that is placed on your phone, computer or other device in the course of your visiting, using or navigating our website (and websites generally), and when you upload or download information. We, and/or third parties that provide us with website analytics and other services, use cookies and other technologies to track your use and navigation of our website and in some cases the particular pages and services that you view.
The information collected automatically from your phone, computer or other device may include information about the browser, device and the Internet Service Provider (ISP) you use, the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses involved in your connection to the website, the URL you were at before coming to our website, details about your visit (e.g., what you view, how long you view it or what you click on), your geographic location, and date and time. We and our third party service providers may access and collect this information when it is available even though you have not affirmatively provided it to us.
We and our third party service providers use this information to administer the website, to analyze how visitors navigate the website, to provide users with more relevant content, to improve the usability, functionality and content of our website, to prevent misuse of our website, and also to provide technical and customer support. Some of this information is anonymized and is not personally identifiable to you by us. We and our third party service providers may correlate some information to our users and use it in the ways we describe in this Policy.
The information is stored on servers that we or our third party service providers maintain.
Tracking Options and Do Not Track Disclosures
You can block cookies, including location tracking, by setting Internet browser settings to stop accepting new cookies, to turn off location tracking, to receive notice when a new cookie is received, to disable existing cookies, and to omit images (which will disable pixel tags). More detailed information about cookie management with specific web browsers can be found at the browsers’ respective website. Blocking or disabling cookies may affect the functionality of our website. The website may not respond to Do Not Track requests or headers from some or all browsers.
How We Use The Information We Collect
We use the information that you provide to us and/or our third party service providers for the purpose for which it was provided to us, including to respond to requests for Client services, to become a Partner, or to volunteer your services; to make a donation; to register for an event; to consider your application for employment; to provide information about us generally; to send you our newsletter; and as further described in this Policy.
When you provide us or a third party service provider (e.g., Give Lively) with your email address, we will use it to periodically send you information about Safer Foundation that we believe may be of interest to you. We may also use it to solicit donations in support of Safer Foundation and our related entities. Our mailing list includes both individuals and companies that we provide services to or partner with, and those who have provided their email addresses but have not used our services or been involved in our programs.
We and our third party service providers may retain and use your information after we have responded to your request or provided services or determined that we will not provide you with services or otherwise work with you.

Third Party Access To Your Information
We do not sell your information or provide it to others, except to our related organizations (e.g., Safer Return) and to third parties who provide services to us as described in this Policy. We do not give our third party service providers the right to use your information except to provide services to Safer Foundation. Subject to that, they have separate privacy policies that may also apply to information that they collect on our behalf, and are referenced above.
In some cases, your information may be aggregated with other information in a way that does not include any information that would be individually identifiable to you. We and/or the third parties we contract with may use this information to administer the website, to analyze how visitors navigate the website, to provide visitors with more relevant content, to improve the usability, functionality and content of our website, or to provide technical support for the website.
We use third parties to host and administer our website and in the course of the work they do for us, or to prevent fraud or misuse of our website, these third parties may access your information.
If a third party were to merge our organization with theirs, or in the course of negotiating a merger of some or all of our organization, we may need to disclose your personal information to the prospective transferee and give your information to them if such a merger is concluded. You consent to such disclosure and transfer.
If we are required by law, legal process or in response to requests from law enforcement, or if in our sole determination it is necessary for the protection of our interests or the interests of any of our service providers, we reserve the right to use and disclose your personal information.
Except as described in this Policy, we do not sell or otherwise share your personal information with third parties.

We may include links on our website to websites that are not affiliated with us, do not provide us with products or services, or are not involved in our website administration.

This Policy applies only to our website and the information collected there. It does not apply to any information collected offline or via channels other than our website, except as expressly described above.

You can always change your mind and you may have other rights that relate to your information that is in our possession as described in this Policy.
Storing Your Personal Information
We store the information we collect as long as we determine it is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy. We will not delete any stored information we are legally required to keep for a longer period by applicable U.S. law. When information is aggregated and can no longer be associated with you personally, it may be included in data that we and/or our service providers retain and use indefinitely.
Keeping Your Information Safe
We use one or more third parties to administer and host our website and the administrator(s) is obligated to use industry standard protocols and software to reduce the risk of loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse of your Information. However, no data is 100% secure, and we are not able to provide any assurances that the information that we and/or our third party service providers collect and store will be secure or that it will not be subject to loss, unauthorized access, use or disclosure.

Our website is intended for a general audience of people who are U.S. residents 18 years and older.
