The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) assists court-involved youth ages 16-21 in overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency by providing them with the academic tools and job-readiness training needed to succeed and become productive members of society. In response to the growing need of educational services within the juvenile offender population, Safer Foundation pioneered an innovative peer teaching methodology. In this active and inclusive environment, young people help each other develop the skills needed to obtain a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) under the guidance of trained facilitators. There are no program costs for participants, and HSED testing fees are paid for by the program.
