Safer Foundation - Victor B. Dickson

Victor B. Dickson President and CEO

"The goal for our clients at Safer is private sector employment. We know that when our clients work, the cycle of recidivism can be broken."

Victor B. Dickson joined Safer Foundation as its president in 2013, bringing a blend of nonprofit and corporate experience and a passion to advocate on behalf of those often deemed second-class citizens. Under his leadership, Safer Foundation has moved more toward training clients for high-demand industries and occupations so they can have a better chance of ending the cycle of poverty.

Victor’s experience includes more than 20 years in the corporate sector with telecommunications giants AT&T and Sprint. He held various leadership positions, ending his corporate career at Sprint as National Vice President Sales Support & Infrastructure Services. In this role Victor led a team of more than 3,500 network & systems engineers, software developers and technical account consultants, supporting national and multinational business clients. His team was responsible for maintaining an $11 billion revenue stream.

After leaving Corporate America, Victor returned home to the Chicago area and to his roots in social service. An ordained minister, he served for six years as Chief Operating Officer for a local mega church, where he directed a variety of entities providing social services, education and relief efforts locally and abroad.

With his passion for social justice and expertise in criminal justice issues, Victor is frequently recruited to serve on boards and commissions, including the Illinois Human Services Commission, Illinois Commission to Eliminate Poverty, Illinois Workforce Innovation Opportunity Board, and Cook County Commission on Social Innovation. He also served on the mayor’s Police Accountability Task Force.

Victor is a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago. He and his wife, Talese, live in Chicago and have four children.
